Not worth the Price

This is the same exact book as the First edition; I bought both because my teacher insisted on the second edition and there was literally no difference so I completely wasted 100 bucks compared to the first edition which is less than 50.

Based on pure content alone though this is a great book.

Excellent Introductory Level Textbook

It is difficult to find a neuroscience textbook that is both informative and easy and fun to read. The editor for this textbook accomplishes this beautifully. My only complaint is that in paring down the size of the textbook from the first edition to the second edition, they sacrificed some details that I feel are still essential for understanding how neural pathways work. Overall, though, if you are looking for an introduction to the field without too many boring technical details, this textbook is perfect for you.

This is a well organized and updated book. However, it treats some time-honored findings as new, because neuroimaging studies have been made on them. To give a better sense of what is known about memory functions, it ought to be giving better linkages to cognitive psychology studies that had similar findings 20-40 years ago.

As colorful and tragic as Gotti Sr’s life was, the self-told chronicle of his son’s odyssey reads like an epic worthy of Victor Hugo. As far back as 1998 John A. “Junior” Gotti declared himself a “civilian” and with his father’s permission withdrew from the Life. But over the next ten years the Justice Department refused to let that happen.

After he’d served nearly six and a half years and paid millions in fines, the DOJ came after him again with four trials and a tax prosecution—five, not four—attempts to send him away for life. One indictment even included a death penalty eligible crime. But in the end, Gotti Junior proved to be “The Teflon Son.”

To wage their relentless series of prosecutions the Feds used some fifteen Assistant U.S. Attorneys and more than a hundred cooperating witnesses, many of whom were violent felony offenders who had, in the aggregate, committed nearly a hundred murders and hundreds of assaults and robberies. Then, after testifying, those violent criminals soon got their freedom and many of them were released to the streets with the help and support of their government handlers.

AWESOME!!!

Finally we hear the other side of the story instead of what the media dishes out! Scary how the personal vendetta of Otto, and his outrageous misuse of power tore a family apart. He bribes others in a web of lies that is disproved time and time again. Gotti, on the other hand, can back up his statements with facts that are public record. Over-dramatic public displays of the FBI is a waste of of taxpayer money! Whether you are a fan of the Gotti family or not, this book gives a credible inside look of what goes on behind the scenes of the stuff they don't want you to know. Read this in one day because I couldn't put it down!

I could not stop reading: Very good

Growing up in Seattle, WA I have always enjoyed reading about The Gotti Family. I heard John Gotti Jr. wrote this book by himself and I thought it might be a poor read or poorly written. I was wrong. This book is very well written, it is very interesting and was hard to put down. John Jr. gives a lot of funny and memorable first person stories, names and really takes you along for the ride of what it was like being a Gotti during his father's hey day. It is a long book, very interesting and well worth $9.99. I got my money's worth with this book. Buy it.

John Jr. has some writing skills and should write another book. Good for him changing his life.

No one else could of done a better job other than John Jr

Shadow of My Father by John A. Gotti is for sure a must read. I couldn't put the book down, looking at it from John Junior's point of view, as a father and son, who needed to tell the truth, and setting the record straight. No one else could of done a better job other than John Jr, who turned his life around for the better. Yet John Jr. never disrespected his father and people from the life. I come from Howard Beach, NY and know some of the Gotti's, they are wonderful people. Telling the story, being John Gotti's son, was done with a touch of class. John Jr. writes very memorable stories of the life, and of his father John Gotti Sr, in his hey day, and the way it really was.I am sure John A. Gotti's family are so proud of him, and so am I . A job well done, I highly recommend this book.

First, the book is a bit dated. The web service concepts & code concentrate more on SOAP with only a few chapters covering REST APIs -- and then with some questionable design patterns. However, a bigger problem is formatting: reading on a Kindle Fire or iPad the book is passable; still some formatting issues with code & graphics, but readable. On a standard Kindle the graphics are almost unreadable. Altogether I can't recommend this given the wealth of new, better written and formatted, books on web service design and implementation. Still, it's only $7 so no big loss and there was likely that much info to be gained.

Peter Mayle spent fifteen years in the advertising business before escaping in 1975 to write books, including his bestselling "A Year in Provence "and "Toujours Provence". His work has been translated into seventeen languages and he has contributed to a variety of newspapers and magazines. He lives with his wife in Provence.

Robbins is Professor of Art Therapy at the Pratt Institute and a Founding Director of the Institute of Expressive Analysis. He is on the board of directors of the National Psychological Association for Psychoanalysis and has been on the faculty for over thirty years. He is also a New York State licensed psychologist and a graduate certified psychoanalyst.

We found another book at our library to use until we feel more comfortable with this one

I bought this after my brother used it to talk to his kids. It is a bit awkward with all the pictures and subjects covered. We decided not to share it with our son yet he is 8 yrs old. We found another book at our library to use until we feel more comfortable with this one.

I bought this book in hardback about 20 years ago when my daughter started asking the question 'how are babies made'. This book tells the correct story, using correct terms, but in a more understanding way for young minds to comprehend. I am now purchasing another copy to give to my daughter for her children.

Great book! I sat with my daughter while she read the book and flipped thru the pages. As soon as she turned to a nude picture she laughed and kept reading until she got to the second nude picture and said "I want to read this later." She read it the next day and the next until she was comfortable with finishing. I asked her questions and she asked me questions. This book will is wonderful in so many ways.
