About the Author
Vernon Osmond Cook was born in a remote farmhouse in 1921 in Box Elder County, Utah. He graduated in 1949 with a BS in Physics from U.C., Berkeley. Cook’s articles have been published in the Wall Street Journal, U. S. News and World Report, Skillings Mining Review, and other publications. Retiring from a business career in 1996, he continued his pursuit of the message of the Old Testament, as he felt it has so much to offer the human family, especially in this day of prophecy-fulfilling world events. He and his late wife, Ila, have seven children and numerous descendants.

I learned a lot from it and I highly recommend it.

This book explains how events recorded in the Bible which occurred more than two thousand years ago have had a significant effect on the history of the middle east and the world. Vernon's book blends the old testament and history and traces the various descendants of Abraham from ancient times to where they are today. It is very well researched and written and I could hardly put it down. I think it is a must read for anyone interested in understanding the complex issues involving Judaism, Israel, Palestine, and the Arab world. I learned a lot from it and I highly recommend it.

Increase your understanding of the Old Testament

This is the book to read if you want to know what the Old Testament is really all about? This book focuses on the Covenants and promises God has made with man, specifically, the children of Israel. He explains their history, their obedience and disobedience to God. What happened to them after they turned away from God and began worshiping false idols, etc. The separation of the Southern Kingdom (Tribes of Judah and Benjamin) and Northern Kingdom (the other 10 tribes) Where are they now? Cook puts forth strong evidence as to where the tribe of Joseph is today and how they came to be there. The fascinating thing about this book is that the author not only explains the covenants and prophecies of the O.T, but he points out their ongoing fulfillment in relation to the history of the world. I learned so much about the Israelites and their destiny as children of the Covenant.
I was amazed at the knowledge of the author. He knows and understands scriptures and explains things very well. He also has a great knowledge of history--from the royal hierarchies of Europe, Russia, and the Muslim countries and their eventual demise, to the wars fought throughout time.
I especially loved the last few chapters where Cook pulled everything together and showed how things correlate to our day.

Ordered only 2 but it is so good I need one more for a great Old Testament ...

But I need one more copy. Ordered only 2 but it is so good I need one more for a great Old Testament teacher friend. Tell me the easiest way to order it. It is a fantastic synopsis regarding the House of Israel, that is the twelve tribes, decendents of Abraham.
